Dental Cleanings
One simple thing you can do to ensure your overall health is to take proper care of your teeth and gums on a daily basis by brushing and flossing.
Every six months, or sometimes more often, cleanings should be performed by your dentist or hygienist to prevent excessive plaque buildup. Plaque and/or calculus (tartar) can accumulate below the gumline and lead to unhealthy gums (gingivitis). If left untreated, gingivitis can lead to bone loss (periodontal disease) and eventually tooth loss.
As part of your cleaning appointment, we will perform an oral cancer screening, nutritional counseling, sleep screening, and review homecare instructions to assist in making your daily brushing and flossing routine as simple as possible.
Anti-Cavity Treatments
We believe it is much easier to prevent decay than it is to treat it. Fluoride or hydroxyapatite (non-fluoride) treatments re-mineralize teeth, stop cavities from developing and make your teeth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque, bacteria and sugars in the mouth. We have both options available in our office.
Sealants
Sealants are used to fill in narrow grooves in a tooth that cannot be adequately cleaned by brushing. The dentist or dental hygienist brush on a coating that seals the grooves and pits, making it possible to brush off all the plaque and keep your teeth healthy.
